About Miratis

Miratis was created in 2009 inspired by a love and appreciation of the work of skilled craftspeople. William Morris, one of the 19th century's most celebrated designers, perfectly sums up our philosophy, 'Have nothing in your house that you do not know to be useful, or believe to be beautiful', . Miratis is a celebration of the unique, the beautiful, the remarkable and the fabulous.

Our name is made up of two latin words "mirus" meaning wonderful and astonishing and "artes" meaning the skill of art and craft. Our constantly evolving collection presents the finest creations from today’s most talented and talked-about designer-makers.  All of our gifts are created and hand-made with passion by exceptional craftsmen and women. Providence and authenticity are key values of Miratis and we are proud of our makers.  From ceramics to glassware and metalwork, every piece in our collection is handcrafted, designed to inspire and delight.  It is our hope that every piece is cherished for many generations.

We began life as an online store, took a little time out from Miratis, but have since painstakingly renovated a Grade II* house of medieval origin.   In the 1700's the house was developed into a more fashionable Georgian fronted home.    We have renovated a cottage, originally built to house the craftspeople who prepared and spun the wool brought into the market town of Chippenham.  In the cottage you can enjoy some of our handcrafted homewares.

If you would like to chat we’re a phone call or email away.  Please enjoy browsing our collection of beautiful, handcrafted pieces.
