Jane Dorner
Following a successful career in publishing, Jane changed career and gained a distinction in her MA in Glass at the University for the Creative Arts in Surrey. Working from her studio in London, Jane has developed a distinctive style, in which she uses glass to create an embryo form in a style known as pâte de verre. This technique dates back to the ancient Egyptians and was revived in the 19th century by a group of French artists who gave this warm glass technique its current name. She ‘paints’ into a mould with finely crushed glass mixed with a binding material to create a paste. This is fired to fuse the glass. The results produce intriguing, modern and beautiful glass pieces.
